Chuseok Vacation

Songpyeon, a special Chuseok food made from rice flour dough and stuffed with delicious fillings.  These were a gift from a student.

My co-workers/roommates and I went to Yoonseo's house in Gangneung to celebrate Chuseok with his family. It was so wonderful to be in a Korean home for the holiday.  In this picture we are making songpyeong. In the picture, clock-wise from the left: Myeongseo (Yoonseo's brother), Abby, Heather, Yoonseo, Kate, Sarah, and Michael.

Yoonseo's mother, with the steamed songpyeon. (You can see black beans inside- that's what we filled them with.)

We visited a nearby sheep farm. It was nice to be out in nature. This picture is of me and Kaia, my new roommate.

Our Chuseok breakfast feast at Yoonseo's house.

After 2 nights at Yoonseo's house, some of us went to Sokcho and stayed in hostels for two nights, doing some hiking.

Seoraksan, a famous mountain and national park we went to.
