where the past meets today

I am from moving vans, Dad’s inner city Pittsburgh accent, long road-trips, and the wilderness.
I am from peppernuts, bierrocks, soybean pie, and excessive amounts of kale.
I am from “ni hau” and “bienvenidos”.
I am from feet in the river, home-bred hamsters in my hand, and five people collapsed on top of me in “more bags”.
I am from teachers, doctors, and times close to the poverty line; Russian Mennonites on the Great Trek and Swiss-German bloodlines.
